The Arrival of the Messenger ﷺ in Madinah
A READING OF AL FUSUL - CHAPTERS FROM THE LIFE OF THE MESSENGER ﷺ BY HAFITH IBN KATHIR
Course Description:
In this term, we continue our journey through Chapters From the Life of the Messenger ﷺ by Hafith Ibn Kathir, tracing one of the most transformative episodes in the Seerah: The Arrival of the Messenger ﷺ in Madianh.
This semester begins with the Prophet’s departure from Makkah, his perilous migration, and his divinely guided arrival in Al Madinah.
We will explore the strategic, spiritual, and social dimensions of this transition, including his initial establishment in the city, the construction of Masjid Quba, the construction of Masjid An Nabawi, and the profound act of brotherhood instituted between the Muhajirun and the Ansar.
Whether continuing from our previous terms or joining for the first time, students will find in this course a rich and reflective study of the Prophet’s ﷺ earliest days in Al Madinah and the emergence of the first Islamic governance.

What have previous students said about our Sirah program?
-
"Amazing class, so detailed and beneficial. Can't wait for the next semester InshaAllah!"
“Online classes were something to look forward to, especially which the content Sheikh Farhan brings and how he brings it. Points are very clear in every class and always has questions time at the end.”
-
"A source of peace for me each week and a sense of comfort. None to do better, exceeding excellence. The slides are great, the Seerah is explained very clearly, the teacher is always very energetic and enthusiastic and engaging. The stories are well-told. "
“A new insight into the seerah.”
-
"Alhamdulillah, it was a beautiful experience. May Allah reward everyone involved in setting up the course. Its something I really look forward to and listen to the recordings which gives a whole another perspective when listening second time."
“I feel like the lessons are amazing and i benefit greatly from them.”
-
" I find your method of teaching highly engaging and beneficial. Learnt a lot about the migration from the mecca to medinah. I also really liked how you organised the google drive to include all the videos. This made it very easy to find all the videos. Jazakallahu khyran"
“Alhamdulillah I have benefited immensely on events that I had vague understandings of but now know in more detail…Sheikh Farhan has done an incredible job in relaying the seerah to us.”
-
"Allhamdulilah, I benefitted alot in this class, the teaching method is already top tier I have no qualms with how the course is run."
“I am enjoying the Sirah so much. The biggest benefit besides learning about our Prophet ﷺ and the events that shaped our faith, is the unlearning of the widely spread misconceptions. Besides the Sheikhs presentation, I do enjoy the slides the most. Please keep that up. I find them very helpful in summarising the main points. JazakumAllahu khayran.”
-
"This class has impacted me so profoundly. I feel as if my connection to both Allah and the Prophet ﷺ has increased and strengthened, and I understand to a deeper level the suffering the Rasul and the Sahabah endured for Islam to be spread. Alhamdulillah I feel like there isn't much to improve in terms of classes. Alhamdulillah, Sheikhna Farhan has always made the classes fun, and engaging, and always knocks each class out of the park, Allahuma Barik.
“Alhamdulillah - This class has been monumental in gaining a deeper understanding of the Life events of the Propeht PBUH and especially in relation to the lessons that we learn can aim to apply in our day to day lives. I am very satisfied by the current teaching methods of this course”
-
"May Allah grant you abundant reward and the highest levels of Jannah without Judgement for all your efforts! Alhamdulillah this course was extremely beneficial and i have learned a lot about the Seerah of the Prophet Sallalahu alayhi wasalam. The sheikh keeps the class super engaging especially through how he tells and gives us a visual of what happened and how the people would have felt and acted during their times. I dont think i have anything to comment on that you can improve in this course as i feel like much of it is absolutely perfect alhamdulilah Jzakullahu 5ayran for all what you have done for us."
“Jazakallahu khairan sheikh to you and the team, once again an amazing seerah class, some lessons that left us in tears, definitely leaves me looking forward to Friday nights every term.”
-
"Overall, the class is very informative, engaging and the timelines provided in the slide shows were very helpful. JazakAllah Khair."
“Alhamdulillah, I’ve really benefited from this class, it helped me understand my deen better and reminded me to seek knowledge sincerely for the sake of Allah ﷻ. I love learning about the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and it’s been the biggest blessing that I’m able to be able to learn about His life. The lessons were clear and inspiring, and I truly enjoyed the way everything was taught.”
-
"I have immensely be benefited from these Seerah classes. I previously thought that reading a Seerah book alone would have been enough for me. However, through these classes, I can now appreciate going through a book with a teacher. This unlocks a better understanding of the background information or additional context that the book does not mention. 2) In my opinion, the course checks all the boxes in order to keep the students engaged. I really like the power point slides as they summarise the lessons."
“The main benefit from this class which makes me want to come every week is the level of detail which we are going through in the Sirah. I have listened to Sirah's before, but the level of detail Allahuma Barik is unreal; we are not limited by the constraints of the author because Sheikh has done extensive research into the various books Sirah and gives us the strongest version of events, while also informing us of others. All this, while the class still does not feel like a chore to sit through - very autistic and ADHD friendly. The vibes are still friendly and the Sheikh is very understanding. As of yet, I am not sure what can be improved.”
