The Foundations of Islam
Few collections of Hadith have been as influential and widely studied as the renowned 40 Hadith of Hadith An Nawawi.
This remarkable collection brings together some of the most important and comprehensive sayings of the Prophet ﷺ, covering the fundamental principles upon which Islam is built.
This course will provide a short explanation of all 42 Hadith, exploring their meanings, the fundamental principles they establish, and their practical application in our daily lives.
Whether you are studying these Hadith for the first time or revisiting them to deepen your understanding, this course is for you.
This course is offered both in person and online.

By the end of this course, students will be able to:
Understand the meanings and explanations of the 42 Hadith collected by Hafith An Nawawi.
Recognise the significance of these Hadith and their central role in establishing the foundations of Islam.
Understand the principles governing the relationship between a Muslim and Allah, as well as their responsibilities towards others.
Recognise the comprehensive nature of Islam and how these Hadith address various aspects of a Muslim's life.
Explore the practical lessons and guidance contained within each Hadith.
Apply the teachings of these Hadith to everyday situations, decisions, and interactions.
Establish a strong foundation in the Sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ through the study of some of the most important Hadith in Islam.

Course Notes
Course notes will be shared with students after each class to support revision, reflection, and continued benefit.These notes are provided for personal use only and must not be shared or distributed.

None Required – This course is open to all, regardless of prior knowledge.
To enrol in this course, students must be over 13 years old and have a good understanding of English.

Students must attend all classes.
One absence is permitted, but multiple unexcused absences will result in expulsion from the course.

Students who wish to receive a certificate of completion must successfully complete the following:
Research Paper - A research paper in the form of a structured book summary based on a selected prescribed text - announced on the first week of class.
The paper will not exceed 25 pages of writing.
Final Exam: Assess your grasp of the course material through a final exam (Pass Mark: 70%).
